2015 Recap

If running were all about races, medals, and speed, then 2015 was not so great. Compared to last year, I finished less races and ran slower: 30 vs 38 races, and my fastest 5K - two minutes longer than my best time.

But running is more than races and speed. It's about community and enjoying life. It's also about reconnecting with nature and gaining strength to tackle daily tribulations. This I've done.

In addition to a 35-minute indoor triathlon, 18 5Ks, 2 10Ks, 1 5-miler, 1 10-miler, 4 halfathons, 2 full marathons, and 1 50K (31 miles) ultra marathon, I also organized my first race - the Harvest 5K (phew!). This was the culmination to my commitment
to complete 50 5K by 50 and was the most difficult yet rewarding race I've done. With the Harvest 5K, my family, friends, and I were able to raise $6,700 for the needy students of the Allentown central elementary school.

In writing this, I realized that 2015 was definitely more, not less, stellar than last year. With my more relaxed pace, I earned 5 PRs (personal records): 4 in new races (indoor triathlon, 5m, 10m, and 50K), and full marathon. I made more friends who share my passion, and learned more.

What's next? My ultimate goal is to keep running for as long as I can, and also encourage more people to be active. For 2016, I aim to volunteer in at least 2 races, and continue my quest to finish 60 half marathons by 60.

How was your 2015? Describe it in 3 words or less please (it's not fair I know, but it's fun).
